What do you do when life feels stressful and out of your control?
For me, alcohol was always the first answer.
But since getting sober, I’ve learned how to deal with life’s ups and downs without needing a drink in my hand.
It’s clear to me that having a drink would only make my problems feel worse.
That having a drink today will only mean I have a worse day tomorrow, guaranteeing I’ll need another drink that I can feel guilty about the next day.
Learning different ways to cope with stress (and success – because most celebrations involve booze too) is key to making sure that when a big life event inevitably hits you, you don’t hit rock bottom.
