In December I had the pleasure of joining Claudia Geratz MSc for her Bye Bye 2022 reflection webinar. It made me realise just how many of my joyful memories of last year came from swimming.
🌊 A full moon sea swim under a pink sky with my boys
🌊 Epic play battles with Charlie in the pool
🌊 Running, jumping and doggy paddle races in the pool with the boys
🌊 Freezing cold but beautiful sunrise sea swims with friends
🌊 Skinny dipping on holiday in France by myself for a full hour at sunrise whilst everyone else was asleep
🌊 Jumping off a catamaran into the toasty sea in Ibiza with friends at sunset
🌊 Swimming out to the 5 knot buoys with the boys for the first time
🌊 Dragging Oscar along behind a barge in an inflatable shark in a manky canal
🌊 Joining in Floaty McFloatrace in Teignmouth Regatta in said shark with my niece when the boys refused to take part
🌊 And how could I forget, Charlie coming 2nd in the swimming race at regatta because two others didn’t bother to run under the finish line!!
I’m not a swimmer. I’m bad with the cold. I have to hold my nose when I go under. My hair is too thick and unruly for any washing and drying that isn’t absolutely necessary. I can’t even do any proper strokes.
Switching swimming to a play activity instead of a form of exercise has brought me so much joy, brought me so many lovely bonding opportunities with my boys, and better connected me with the sea and where I live.
I have loved working with Debi. John. to better understand the benefits of play and how I can help people find more time for fun, play and creativity through my coaching, so that they can feel happier and be more productive without getting burnt out.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
